Preparation of chromyle chloride
A mixture of finely minced KCl melts and K2Cr2O7 in an iron bowl. Pure molten iron is poured on a baking sheet and let harden. Pieces of solidified melt pulverized in a mortar and coarse powder is placed in a flask fitted with fractional dropping funnel. At the outlet fractional flask will connect downward cooler. As a jug use fractional flask. Then we start dropping funnel add conc. sulfuric acid. Slight heating produced reddish vapor chloride Chromel which condenses in a cooled fraction flask. The apparatus maintain a slight negative pressure water pump. Between the water pump and drying apparatus placed the tube with anhydrous calcium chloride and the insured vessel. The resulting preparation sealed to the vial (decomposes humidity).
