Preparation of cuprous chloride
50 ml Dissolve 5 g of copper sulfate and 10 g of ammonium chloride. To the solution add 5 g of copper shavings or copper powder. Heat the reaction mixture until the initially green solution discharged. The solution was filtered trichlorměďnatanu into water acidified with acetic acid.
Chlorokomplex decomposes to form cuprous chloride, which is recovered as a white powder. Precipitate was decanted and dry in the dark with exclusion of air, otherwise it would oxidize the copper chloride.
Cu2+ + Cu --> 2Cu+
Cu+ + 3 Cl- --> [CuCl3]2-
[CuCl3]2- --> CuCl + 2Cl-
