Wood's metal

   Tools: weights, iron pot, burner, tripod, chemical pliers


      Chemicals: tin, bismuth, lead, cadmium     


          Procedure: dare one gram of tin, bismuth 3.5 g, 2 g of lead and 0.5 g of cadmium. Everything we put in an iron crucible, melted and let cool. We have prepared alloy called Wood's metal, which has a melting point of 66 ° C. This metal softens and melts in a glass such as hot tea.         


              Wood's metal is composed of 50% bismuth, 28.5% lead, 14.3% cadmium and 7.2% tin. Metal alloys having different physical properties than the pure metals.
